CAFTA
  • The United States will not negotiate on terms, and strong-arms the process.
  • Latin American intellectuals say that the resistance to CAFTA is honarable: "We take the heroic and unequal battle of the Patriotic Movement for No FTA as our own; we are pleased about its capacity to join different popular expressions in a just cause," said the text signed, among others, by Nobel Peace Prize winner Argentinean Adolfo Perez Esquivel "
  • Roy Rojas, a Costa Rica blog, states why he will vote yes to CAFTA (in spnish).
  • A 'no' vote for CAFTA is a 'win' for Hugo of Venezuela?  "If [CAFTA] is killed in Costa Rica, it will be a victory for Venezuela’s Hugo Chávez, who is trying to drive a wedge between Latin America and the U.S. and help Iran put down roots in America’s backyard."
  • CAFTA a disaster in Mexico and Guatemala.
  • 54% of Costa Ricans oppose CAFTA.
Maybe there should be some caution on how Costa Ricans vote when Americans are growing skeptical towards free trade.
