Probably Geno forgot how, the Italian Language sounds like or ashamed one day because he didn't understand.
Well, as a born and bred Philadelphian, the big question in high school was always, "Should we go to Pat's or Geno's?" (I'll admit that some nights we went to both.) I haven't been to 9th and Passayunk in years, but I certainly know which side of the corner I'll be on the next time I go.
You cross the border - now speak English.
I am Latin American. Although I have an accent, I believe we all should learn to speak the English language without fogetting who we are or where we come from. Parents should teach their children their native language and costums. When the North Americans go to our countries to live and work they are expected to speak the language and to adopt to our costums. I think we should do the same. Just because the USA opens its doors to everyone doesn't mean they should bend over backwards to accomadate every single culture that enters. If the US keeps translating every goverment document in Spanish or any other language what incentive are they giving to immagrants to learn the english language? For that matter, immagrants should stay in their own country. Aren't they looking for a better way of life? In my opion a better way of life is learning the designated language of the country you have choosen to live in. So, if this store owner wants to hang a sign that says you can only order in english, I do belive he has every right to do so!!
nobody said you shouldn't. what the problem is is others saying to speak English only. are you comfortable with that?
Yes. We should speak only english, after all is the native language.
