Giuliani The Opportunist
I wonder if the man has any principles? Talking much yang, about how citizens should speak English yet he advertises on a Spanish channel, with an ad in Spanish, to pander Spanish voters.

About this Entry

All candidates do their fair share of pandering to the voter base. It's no different than that fraud Hillary when she became a hillbilly in her speech in Arkansas or how she acts like she is street-wise and hip when she addresses a Black crowd. It's all about the vote.
Giuliani has a good point about a common national language, English. It is the language that this nation was built on and is the accepted language for conducting business all over the world. Chinese students are required to take English classes and most can speak and read English in elementry school. Nothing can bond a nation together more strongly than a common language, and in this country it's English.
"hillbilly in her speech in Arkansas or how she acts like she is street-wise and hip when she addresses a Black crowd. "
you really should do something about your stereotyping, it's really sad.
And the thing about Giuliani is that he is the biggest opportunist - he was never a Boston fan! LOL
Weren't you the one who said that an english-only politician is a racist (or was it just non-tolerant jackass?) for refusing to go on a spanish channel? Now Giuliani is an opportunist for doing so?
You don't give politicians much choice there, do you LP? Doomed if they do, doomed if they don't, that seems to be your standard.
Ha! Giuliani is the biggest opportunist. He says English only, then panders in Spanish. If he never said English only and blah, blah, blah, then it wouldn't be a contradiction.
Anyway, Giuliani is interested in Cuban voters in Florida in this case. A friend of mine pointed out that many, many Cubans don't associate themselves w/ the rest of the Spanish population in the US (they consider themselves white-Spanish, lol). So maybe you're right...there is no contradiction then. Heh.
With this advertising, Guliani is not only seeking Cubans as a firewall, also positioning himself to gather "naco" anti-black votes against Obama in CA and TX should they meet in the general election. He had practice with Dinkins, and probably split the Latino vote along skin shade lines (enlighten me, LP, as I am not a native New Yorker). With Thompson and Romney on life-support, their is a remaining group of Republican candidates more palatable to Latinos.
that's a very keen observation. not sure about Giuliani when it comes to NY and skin shades.
