About this Entry

Very cool blog, just thought I'd tell you.
That, unfortunately, doesn't sound like democracy. It sounds like a cult of personality.
Call your friends and family, text them, have a party and drive them to the voting booths. Do whatever it takes. Help them understand that Obama will be the next president of the United States IF EVERYONE TAKES PART NOW and VOTES. WE NEED EVERYBODY TO VOTE! EVERYBODY HAS TO VOTE TO MAKE IT HAPPEN! GO OBAMA!
I have been reporting all over the internet since before Obama decided to even run that it can be verified that IL. U.S. Senator Presidential Candidate Barack Obama , IL. U.S. Senator Dick Durbin co-chair Obama 2008 are being complicit in allowing the Illinois Department of Human Rights and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to treat me an American U.S. Hispanic citizen who reported incidents of race discrimination in the state of Illinois in an unequal, biased, & discriminatory manner by preventing me the same race discrimination charges non-Hispanics enjoy as a matter of record and then covering up their conduct. Despite there being ample time for each to respond, redress, and stop the above mentioned serious form of discrimination nothing ,to date, has been done to fairly & fully address, redress, and stop this still ongoing serious form of discrimination which has allowed Hormel Foods Corporation, UFCW, and Target Corporation to not be held accountable for race discrimination against me because I happen to be Hispanic. Inaction ,complicity, & deliberate silence on the part of (for instance but not limited to) Obama and Durbin are responsible for my American civil rights continuing to be violated in Illinois as it relates to this serious form of discrimination in their state of Illinois and for nothing being done to fully & fairly redress and stop this still ongoing form of discrimination against an American who happens to be a Hispanic in Illinois. Hispanics who Know are just showing they will not be willing victims of his "Good Judgement". He has this still going on in Illinois as we speak but Barack Obama tells Hispanic/Latinos nothing about it! I repeat this is verifiable, ongoing and Barack Obama should address it but does not and you can guess why. Included is a link to just one example (If you happen to be a Hispanic/latino like me you can not be the victim of race discrimination in Illinois as I can atest) this is on IDHR's own website in the public domain.

El Loco! Whoa! Didn't mena to offend you! No cult intended! But I did do my research (as I'm sure you did yours), and I feel inspired to help others understand that Obama is a man with diplomacy, political astuteness, high moral standards, and a passion to REFORM a system that has caused great financial woe and international damage. For too many years, poor decisions were made by a selfish corrupt administration at our expense. They used fear, lies, and terrorist tactics to delude the American public. Hillary is a by-product of that "old" administration. I am inspired and motivated to help people understand why I feel the way I do. MANY OF MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY THINK VOTING IS A WASTE OF TIME because they think the system is so corrupt that it won't matter. I FELT THE SAME WAY. This is not a cult -- this is a sincere CALL FOR ACTION to all those who are tired of the "old" administrations selfish, wasteful, and inhumane tactics. We are sick of the dictatorship. We want our democracy back. You can see OBAMAs live speeches on UTUBE, he speaks from his soul. You can compare his track record of SUCCESS in the senate compared to Hillarys on the official website of the Library of Congress at www.thomas.loc.govlook which shows how many and what kind of bills OBAMA sponsored and WERE PASSED by the Senate. Obama makes things happen that have substance. Hillary's list of accomplishments is PALE by comparison, for all her bragging about "solutions and experience." She is proud of smearing her opponents to uphold her campaign morale. That is not the kind of president I want. This is why I am asking my family and friends to VOTE OBAMA!
Elizabeth, no offense taken. I'm not calling Obama followers "cult-like," unlike other bloggers. However, if your commitment is to one person and not to democratic reform and participation, it sort of falls under the category of "cult of personality."
Obama is a man with diplomacy, political astuteness, high moral standards, and a passion to REFORM a system that has caused great financial woe and international damage
Diplomacy? Where? And as far as reform goes, let me tell you a little anecdote. We in N.Y. elected a new Governor on the last cycle, Gov. Eliot Spitzer (D-NY). He was - and is - all about reforming the government. He won with 70% of the vote, which is unheard of even in a deep blue state like NY.
So, what happened? He spent the first year essentially bickering with the Legislature because they wouldn't "reform." It was, in many ways, a "wasted year." Lesson learned: wanting reform and delivering reform are two different things.
MANY OF MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY THINK VOTING IS A WASTE OF TIME because they think the system is so corrupt that it won't matter. I FELT THE SAME WAY.
YOU CAN'T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS!!! You can't complain about how bad things are and not do anything to change it. I'm glad Obama inspired you to participate, but, unfortunately, people like him are few and far between. Being an active participant in a democracy takes a lot of effort and time. But the alternative is you don't get to complain about the results.
Hillary's list of accomplishments is PALE by comparison, for all her bragging about "solutions and experience."
Well, it's your argument so I'll let you be the one to put forth your proof.
The movement that Obama is tapping into with young Latinos, Blacks, whites and others is much more than the person. It is an opportunity for our country to reverse the politics of destruction. It is an opportunity to make a generational change in the political leadership of our country.
One thing that should make it easier to govern ... is that congressional candidates that support the reforms and higher vision of Obama should be swept into office. I take notice of the fact that a old-school Black congressman (Ed Wynn) lost his seat to a new-school Black woman.
Anyhow, it is great that so many more young people are engaged and optimistic about politics.

Obama is The Savior "I have a set of gifts right now that I think could really move the country forward" "It's my job to offer myself... here's what I think I can do." The 60 Minute interview. What do you think? Please check this out... Thanks!http://cosmos.bcst.yahoo.com/up/player/popup/?rn=3906861&cl=6374507&ch=4227541&src=news
The problem is, Mexicans won't vote for a black guy from the inherenly racist culture that most are raised in. I immediately think of Memin Penguin. I don't know how Obama is going to bridge that gap. Impossible at this point. I mean.....THE BLACK CANDIDATE?
Anyone seen this yet? Thought you might find it worth a look (and a laugh, all politics aside):

"We are sick of the dictatorship. We want our democracy back"
So Elizabeth, if Obama loses, we continue the dictatorship. We're only a democracy if Obama wins. This the kind of over-the-top rhetoric which makes people mock the starry-eyed Obama supporters.
Democracy belongs to the people and is not the province of any candidate. In case you haven't noticed, the people turned out in record numbers in the last presidential election, and changed control of Congress 2 years ago. Democracy is alive and well, with or without Obama.
I guess you also think we need Obama to "fix our souls", as his wife said?
"...the people turned out in record numbers in the last presidential election, and changed control of Congress 2 years ago."
I hope they follow the same trend and oust the Repubs out Nick. It seems record numbers are coming from people sick and tired of the same old thing; Obama is that new thing.
I'm not sure when it became fashionable to denigrate people that support a candidate? We can all see that there is genuine enthusiasum and electricity generated by the Obama campaign. I watched his victory speech after the Iowa contest with my 71-year old Mom. We were both brought to tears with his words that night.
It has continued ever since. Why is that a bad thing?
Hillary Clinton is a good person. She put up with quite alot of nonsense from her husband. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that she has Bill Clinton under any more control now than before.
Also, the idea of 28-years in a row of the Bush-Clinton dynasty is something that causes me concern...

"DfD (Democrats for Deportation) said:
The problem is, Mexicans won't vote for a black guy from the inherently racist culture that most are raised in. I immediately think of Memin Penguin. I don't know how Obama is going to bridge that gap. Impossible at this point. I mean.....THE BLACK CANDIDATE?"
Interesting, but how many Mexicans vote or are registered? Especially the ones who were born here and the ones who come here illegally and are afraid of deportation?
Michael, that's a very good point; and I don't know what DfD's point is anyway.
Nick, in response to your comments, when I said I wanted democracy back, I was not referring to just votes. In the broader sense, I was criticizing how our leadership's decisions DEFIED the tenants of democracy, without regard to (and at the expense of) the people of this country. I trust Obama to serve the best interests of the people of this country more than any other candidate.
I also believe our country deserves leaders who represent and UPHOLD moral behavior as a basic responsibility of tenure. To be proud of our country demands being proud of our leadership. I'm not proud of Clinton and his Monica fling and his mile-high party club. I'm not proud of Bush with his war policies. And, I'm not proud of Hillary and her negative derogatory campaign style, or her past scandals. We deserve leadership with higher moral standards!
Nick, you state that "Democracy belongs to the people and is not the province of any candidate." In case YOU hadn't noticed, Bush is PROOF of how ONE MAN'S PROVINCE skewed our democratic values (of the people, by the people) completely out of control, and away from itself!
I believe that Obama is the best person to bring this whole country back into balance. I admire his family values, his confident attitude, his intelligence, his deep commitment to change, how he fearlessly struck back at the current administration, how he runs a CLEAN CAMPAIGN, and how he SPEAKS from his heart. I admire his CALL FOR ACTION, his uncanny charisma (which serves both national and international interests). I admire his ability to inspire people, just by being himself. He is a naturally gifted leader. He brings people together with united purpose. Let's not lose the opportunity that this man has to offer us.
And for the record, Nick, it is with great joy that I move forward in this campaign with big starry eyes and great faith in the days that lie ahead, thanks to OBAMA.
Forgive me, but as a Latina, I'm not voting for charisma, I am voting for the person that I feel is the most qualified for the biggest job of the country and that is not Obama. I can admit he's cute, but nothing else.
Esta Latina vota por Hillary. Todavia Obama no ha probado nada. Las palabras se las lleva el viento.
Appreciate your comment Maria.
I am voting for, not who we are more familiar with or who is better known, but for the person who I feel is the best qualified to lead the country. I am voting for Obama.
Obama leading Clinton in Texas, according to statewide survey by Decision Analyst
Arlington, Texas (2/21/08)— Barack Obama has a double digit lead over Hillary Clinton in Texas, according to a statewide survey of 678 registered voters planning to vote in the March 4 Democratic Primary. The survey was conducted February 20 and 21 by Decision Analyst, a major national survey research firm. Decision Analyst projections indicate that if the election were held today Obama would win 57% to 43% over Clinton. The surveys margin of error is 3 percentage points, plus or minus, at a 90% level of confidence.
Anybody want their ****WAGES GARNISHED*** to support Hillary's mandatory health care plan? That's what she proposes. Taken from her website http://facts.hillaryhub.com/
"Hillary has consistently said she would consider a range of ideas to ensure everyone was covered, including automatically enrolling people who use hospitals and other government services, and working with employers to enroll uninsured employees and ***GO AFTER A SMALL PORTION OF THEIR WAGES*** to cover the cost of healthcare. This is similar to the withholding structure that many employees use for their 401(k)s." (Emphasis added) Check it out.
Barack Obama as a Civil Rights Lawyer and self proclaimed advocate for Hispanics has allowed IDHR and EEOC in the state of Illinois to treat Americans Like me diffrently than non-Hispanics. Every American has a right to be protected from race discrimination and Barack Obama knows this, so then ask yourself why any American would be given anything less. Can you say "Seperate but Equal, "Jim crow laws".
Let Barack Obama explain the diffrence to America! Qualified men and women for president would not let this continue as Barack Obama has in Illinois to date.
