About this Entry

It might well be late, but it is not as late as recognition from pro-immigrant advocates that business holds overwhelming power in our society and its governance in our political system.
Business can change in a NY second, what all the power held by academia, religious institutions, labor unions, foundations,& other politicL institutions, what policy shaLL prevail in our government.
This is the chief reason why the pro-immigrant advocates have so far failed, & perhaps starkly, because we have not supported business because of our well founded distrust of its power and resentment of its immoral irresponsibility to humanitarian values.
Yet we (advocates) must recognize that culture and civilization is based on the commerce of communities. Trading is as old as our species. Buy & selling is even the very basis of our survival. Therefore, we must not let our liberal worldview blind us to the tactical necessity to ally ourselves with business to put an end to the neo-Know Nothing nativism that will bring us all to ruin
oops that wsomehow slipped out inadvertently
Well, what I want to say is we would be much more rewarded by assisting business find its voice in support of equality and immigrant rights than by spending so much effort in tryihng to have religious institutions, political parties, academia, support immigrants and our efforts to adopt a more sensible policy of sharing our wealth and implement more fair trading policies. --mo
