Environmentalism Is Not A Luxury Of The Elite

The Green Latino Movement

I like this.

I remember I tried being vegetarian when I worked in the Bronx and was hard-pressed to find a variety of food sold there to cater to my need.  What happened was that I found myself paying much more to feed myself.  Taking that same though, isn't it expensive to mind the environment?  Natural foods, organic foods are much more costly than their mass-produced overly starched, overly preserved, and overly modified foods.

Taking it further only the poor just don't have as many options to move away from heavily industrialized environments.  They also don't exercise their right to vote or have the power to make Green decisions in industries.  And the list can go on.

So, that's why I like this article.  It tells you what you can do.  No excuses, but action.  It has to start somewhere, and it starts with the idea that tells us "we can move beyond the idea that environmentalism is a luxury of the elite."

Thanks for this brief, but to the point post! So excited to see others having this dialogue.

I will trackback it from my blog and hopefully expand on the questions raised here.
