MTV Pulls Nuyorican Show

From the pictures that I've seen and the quotes I've read the show casts a very negative shadow on New York's Puerto Rican community - it's almost racist:

Under pressure from viewers outraged by the portrayal of Puerto Ricans in the "I’m a Nuyorican" documentary from the True Life series, MTV has agreed to drop the episode.

"Having gotten feedback from our viewers and after an internal review," said MTV spokeswoman Kassie Canter, "we decided to pull the episode from our Web site and have no plans to re-air the show."

"I’m a Nuyorican" featured three New York Puerto Ricans: Naizsha, 18, who’s attempting to lose weight to join the Air Force; José, 20, a high school dropout hoping to make it as a boxer, and Rose, 22, a belly dancer who says salsa is for "spics."

I did see the show and it seemed to realistically portray the 3 subjects but needed more balance. They chose subjects who fit some negative stereotypes, in particular the headstrong young woman who has problems with all authority figures.
The show is damned either way because if they select more "normal" subjects, people quietly working to improve themselves without a lot of drama, will it draw the viewers?
