Warning: Explicit Racist Comment
Here's a comment I received 3 days ago:
Mud face, huh? I only wish that I could be a little more darker year round. BTW, I've only heard that term on TV, maybe because I dwell in a large city up east. Brown is a genetically dominate gene color, and is a beautiful color that we take pride in. So, if you meant that as an insult, you are only giving a compliment. After all, everything grows from the brown soiled earth. (side note: there are white Mexicans...and brown white people...GASP!...this is a little confusing, I know.) This is too remedial, so I'm not going to waste any time on this.
What you need to do John, is take this issue up with your President (who is browner than me), and have him address the immigration policies of this country. As a matter of fact, I believe he is planning to do this right now.
By the way, since you like to exchange dialogue I've included your email address as it appeared to me here (if this is even you), in this post so you can happily volley questions or comments from readers if they feel so inclined.
Thanks again, for your participation. Feel free to comment again. Bye.
Dear Mud Faces: Let the whites pour into Mexico, announcing their intent to take over Mexico from the Mexicans, proclaiming the Reconquista and soaking up freebies from the Mexican taxpayer, and then we will see if you buy it.Sad to see that there are people calling others names like this...no thanks John (or Bill, or if that is your real name or not), but I graduated High School a looong time ago.

About this Entry

Sorry to hear you get name calling as well. I am curious what in the world they were responding to on your site. I don't follow too closely, but haven't seen the type of propaganda this person is referring to here. It would be a little odd since you are from Puerto Rico and not Mexico. Probably is frustrated because where it does exist - dialogue is pointless. Definitely doesn't justify this kind of hateful antagonism though. Ignorance doesn't enlighten ignorance. Better to just walk away...from the keyboard as well.
On the immigration issue - thanks for the link. I hadn't seen that yet and it was a surprise. If Congress and Obama do this it will be a pleasant surprise indeed. It's interesting that the article points out Republicans would be its enemies but later points out that Bush strongly supported the last effort for reform. There are a lot of Republicans that want immigration reform, including yours truly. But this was an issue that caused Bush to lose a lot of support -unfortunately there are plenty that don't as well. It isn't just a Democrat vs. Republican issue. I suspect Obama has released this because he is losing ground and expects further kickback on the other reforms and needs to keep the support of the latino base, many of whom are closer to the middle. Anyways, I hope something positive does get done, sooner than later.
I also hope actual dialogue can become more frequent than disparaging remarks. We can dream.
Respectfully,
z
As a middle aged North Easterner I've never heard the term "mud faces". Just goes to show you, you can learn something new (and ugly) everyday. Could he have been using the term in jest in any acceptable way? As in, the way a particular character might use that term? That's a real question, since I'm not familiar with that terms common usage.
You handled that nicely. Good job. HIGH 5.
Unfortunately, I'm familiar with the term and it is meant to be derogatory Marc. It's not so much the term being used but the hate, arrogance and ignorance from where it stems from that is unacceptable.
Hi Louis:
How does one get in contact with you? I really dig what you do, and I'm a regular readers, seldom commenter. We want to feature you on our website miapogeo.com. Is there an email address or "about us" section I'm missing?
Thanks for your time. Look forward to hearing back,
Antonio
Thanks Antonio, I sent you an email. If you didn't get it my email is my last name: pagan and then add the at latinopundit thing.
