A Life In The Camera
Whenever I watch a show or go to the movies I am reminded of how it reflects the times and era in which we live in. Expressions like "they don't make movies like that anymore," holds true as anybody who would watch Casablanca and The Matrix would admit that these two movies come from totally different generations.
It is amazing of how there now is to be a show addressing Spanish-speaking parents and how they cope in the U.S. The show is called TodoBebe, and will be airing on Telemundo later this week.
You would have never seen anything like this in the 1950's or even in the 1980's. Immigration is a major factor in the US, and this show like a mirror reflects that. And it seems the show is not totally fictional but, takes up real issues:
"One night in New York, I was in CVS waiting for a prescription...and there was a woman standing in front of a wall full of different kinds of drugs with her eyes wide open," said Gillian Sandler, chief executive of privately held TodoBebe Media, which created the show.
"She asked me if I spoke Spanish...and said she had a two-year old baby at home with a fever. It took me 10 minutes to read through in English and find something that was relevant."
I am curious to see if the show will point to solutions to such problems. This would be a major break from the daily Spanish soap opera smut they air every night. At least hopefully, people can learn from this.
Take my survey.
