The Ever Versatile Patriot Act
Politics never cease to amaze me. The Patriot Act is no exception. Here are some provisions and creative uses that do not have anything to do with Terrorism:
1. The meth billrestricts the number of over-the-counter cold pills you can buy. Do we really need to go on? Sure why not.
2. Speedier death penalties. It's enough that the jails are overcrowded; maybe they figured this will help.
3. A US attorney can now potentially serve indefinitely. Lock and load. They are really rocking now, baby!
4. The "Sneak and Peak." Law enforcement no longer needs probable cause, or extreme circumstances to perform searches. This has been used to bust a local cockfighting ring! Creative.
InstaPundit, puts it nicely: "....that this had more to do with finding an excuse to enact bureaucratic wishlists into law than with protecting us from terrorism."
Take my survey.
