Melt Down.

Sometimes events define your actions.  I remember that I identified the reason for my slow down of blogging to be because of my newborn:  sleepless nights, quality time w/ the family...etc.  Now I know a little more of what I was thinking based on current events.

Being that we have seen Wall Street pretty much melt down following suit to the mortgage crisis and it's predatory lending practices (insert:  those who don't qualify for a loan should not get one, I believe), and corporate greed lead to our economic shake down, I think now my thoughts were more focused on making the efforts to be a better provider for my family:  I don't want my daughter to grow up under the same constrained upbringing that I experienced, and will do everything in my power to be a good provider.

We are all allotted the same amount of time during a day, but it's what you do with it that makes a difference.  If you add some things to your repertoire, then some things just got to go - or be cut in half.  That's just the way it goes.  I've thought of saying good bye for a good many times in the past few months, but I guess I am not ready to pull the trigger.

So, I am still around live and kicking, but just less so here.  I can't say what the future will bring or where I want to take it with LatinoPundit.com, so for now I'm working behind the scenes and will pop my head out every so often.

Paz.
A somewhat humorous story that serves as a visual of our current economy.
No, not crap as in 'things.'  But literally, CRAP!  My baby daughter was constipated for a couple of days; she kept me up through the night as she had a hard time pooping, then today...PLOOP!  Oh, what joy!!!

UPDATE:  I just remembered that a burp can make me ecstatic!  Isn't it sick?

Got Gorilla?

It's a happy day if you are a gorilla lover today.  Over 100,000 gorillas thought to be endangered were found hanging around a remote part of Africa.

I wonder if some people took this and believed that they could trick their bank accounts and credit lines into thinking they had more money than it did.
Some good buddies of mine presented a clip called “Our Dos Centavos: Strategies for Latino Bloggers," from the Netroots Nation seminar.

While I haven't listened to the whole thing yet, my only suggestion is to put it on You Tube.
Texas, and Activists, and Bloggers.  Oh my.

Sick.

"Gonzalez was walking along Third Ave., between 53rd and 54th Sts. - an area known for prostitution - about 2:30 a.m. last Nov. 8. She said she was on her way to Lutheran Medical Center's emergency room.

She had suffered an asthma attack earlier in the day and her medication wasn't working, she said. Her husband suggested she head to the hospital, four blocks from their home on 53rd St., so she could return in time to get the kids ready for school, she said.

Gonzalez, wearing a long winter coat, was suddenly confronted by Spencer and another cop who jumped out of a marked SUV.

"He [Spencer] said, 'I saw you going up to the car,'" Gonzalez recalled. "His partner said, 'Let her go, I've never seen her here before,' but he [Spencer] wouldn't listen," she said.

"I told him, 'I'm somebody's mother. I'm somebody's daughter.' I was hysterical crying."

Spencer also busted a second woman on Third Ave. for prostitution and drove both suspects to the 72nd Precinct stationhouse, where another cop called an ambulance for the asthmatic Gonzalez."

Forget it children! With it's new party suits, steakhouse, and martini bar, the new super-expensive, five-star baseball stadium is geared to cater to the rich, and leave you watching from your neighborhood bar. Cheers!

The latest pride and national bandwagon award goes to Corona and their attempt to alcoholize Latinos.

Right on...Rah-Rah!  Corona! Latinos!!!  "...que linda la botella."  Yeah.

...let's have some fun!  A Japanese IQ test, purported to be given to perspective employees.  Can you get everyone across the river?  (Click on big blue circle after jump.)

The following rules apply:
* Only 2 persons on the raft at a time.
* The father cannot stay with any of the daughters, without their mother's presence.
* The mother cannot stay with any of the sons, without their father's presence.
* The thief (striped shirt) cannot stay with any family member, if the Policeman is not there.
* Only the Father, the Mother and the Policeman know how to operate the raft.

To move the people, click on them. To move the raft, click on the pole on the opposite side of the river. The solution is possible! THIS IS NOT A TRICK!
When I was young I used to go to my Uncle's house in Far Rockaway, Queens for weeks at a time.  He had an indirect positive influence on me - his books!  They were everywhere: on the floors, on shelves, book cases, in boxes, in closets.  My fondest memory is of these two towering book shelves on each side of the living room entrance he had filled with books.  I would stare at them sometimes in awe thinking that there were secrets in them.

In a time when the environment is a hot topic books these days may be getting a bad wrap.  We know they are the product of processed timber and thus must take some toll on our forests, but if you think about all sides of the environment you would line your walls with them!
