Sometimes events define your actions. I remember that I identified the reason for my slow down of blogging to be because of my newborn: sleepless nights, quality time w/ the family...etc. Now I know a little more of what I was thinking based on current events.
Being that we have seen Wall Street pretty much melt down following suit to the mortgage crisis and it's predatory lending practices (insert: those who don't qualify for a loan should not get one, I believe), and corporate greed lead to our economic shake down, I think now my thoughts were more focused on making the efforts to be a better provider for my family: I don't want my daughter to grow up under the same constrained upbringing that I experienced, and will do everything in my power to be a good provider.
We are all allotted the same amount of time during a day, but it's what you do with it that makes a difference. If you add some things to your repertoire, then some things just got to go - or be cut in half. That's just the way it goes. I've thought of saying good bye for a good many times in the past few months, but I guess I am not ready to pull the trigger.
So, I am still around live and kicking, but just less so here. I can't say what the future will bring or where I want to take it with LatinoPundit.com, so for now I'm working behind the scenes and will pop my head out every so often.
Paz.

Life goes fast when having fun; forgot to post that my baby girl arrived a couple weeks ago at 6lbs 14.4oz...beautiful little thing. My days/nights are filled with pacifiers, diapers and half empty feeding bottles...no sleep, no sleep, no sleep. But every time I look at her I joyously laugh at that little miracle.
With all the news going on in the wild right now you'd think I'd be going berserk keeping abreast it all via my blog and reselling it to you. I mean with the old-guard being caught with his pants down, young Latinos are now filing rank behind the Obama camp, who has now gripped everyone's attention and passing expectation. Oops.
Even the bearded one...Viva Cuba!...who has been fighting ailing health problems and has been bedridden for the past year will be stepping down; the economy is already wagging it's tail.
And even better, greater than change is the progress of the Latino Blogosphere, as one of our own debuts on CNN (I didn't watch it ...yet...but, I am sure you did good).
So, with all that excitement...all that news...you'd think I woulda updated and posted something, eh? Well...in 4 words (and then some), I will explain: I Got A Cold - and it's kickin' my a$%.
See you soon, loyal readers.

Special interest groups, lobbyists, and religious moralists have sought and semi-banned US online gambling (I say semi because the UIGEA - Unlawful
Internet Gambling
Enforcement Act, which is basically an update to the Wire Act, doesn't actually make it unlawful to gamble over the internet; it targets financial institutes).Financially speaking, simple regulation instead of banning (and imposing on citizens choices), to a billion dollar industry would have been better for our economy. It is also contradictory to ban ONLY certain kinds of gambling, but allow horse race betting and state run lotteries - aren't these too, gambling?
With the United States being the largest gambling nation (80%), our economic slow down will adversely affect gambling meccas like Costa Rica. But, I have read somewhere that in times of economic slow down, gambling among the masses increases (I have also read that being against gambling is the morally correct choice. However, I am opposed to anything that takes my freedom of choice away).
It is ironic that I take this position, as Clinton favors gambling economically, yet Obama disfavors it morally.
An amazing Superbowl game; an amazing Super Tuesday; 2008 is off to a great start. Remind me next election year to take off the day after the Superbowl and Super Tuesday and the next day after - I feel like I just stepped off a red-eye flight.
Did you get out and vote? I did, but was disappointed when my name was not on the roster sheet of registered voters. The district workers stated that that has happened a lot through the day (my immediate suspicions arose, but later subsided). So, with paper ballot in hand I filled in the little circles, sealed the envelope and dropped it off to be signed by the worker. Funny thing, that the same had happened to my fiancé, in her district. Conspiracy? Nah...probably an address screw up.
Gong to work today: Am I surprised? Is it no wonder, that the same people who expressed magnificent exuberance about the Superbowl game look at me cock-eyed when I boast of how great Super Tuesday's election night was? It's a shame most are more concerned with a game rather, than with their lives or country. No, no surprises here, but it is fun: "Man, did you see that election last night?" LOL

You may know me as Latino Pundit, but my real name is Louis Pagan -- LP, for short by many. I've been blogging for 4 years now and it's been great; it's expected to be even greater. I've worked in IT as a network manager for almost 10 years; I like what I do. A lot of people say they love what they do, but they don't really; if you love what you do you'll do it for free. With that in mind I looked for things that I would do if money didn't matter. Thankfully, I found writing. I would write all day if I could, because I love it.
After all is said and done, and we look back on our lives I hope that each one of you can find at least one thing, be it a person, a passion, a cause that they have loved. To give, is the greatest gift; to give love - even greater. I've been lucky to find one thing that I love; and another as well. The fine muchacha pictured on the right, is my fiancee! I've been lucky enough to find, love, and who loves me back.
This picture is the first picture I ever saw of her, and eventually the girl who I fell in love with - yes, we met online. So, I asked; she said yes.

Baby, I love you. You are the most beautiful woman a man could ever
dream of, and I am one lucky son-of-a-gun to have you by my side. You are in for one heck of a ride, mi amor. =)
On the left here, is our dog Tyler. We traveled all the way to "Bubba-fuck" New Jersey to get him from a breeder. He's a Shiba-Inu, and looks like a little wolf; he actually howls like
one too! So if you happen to be in the Bronx, and here a howl that may
be my boy Ty on the prowl.
I've always wanted a dog. But if it wasn't for my girl I can say quite positively, that I wouldn't have one. It's the whole thing of walking the dog, taking him to the vet, etc. Life was busy as it is without adding more chores to it. Now that I have him, those chores of labor have turned into a labor of love. I think I enjoy walking him more than he likes to be walked. It's that whole giving love thing I guess. With job, a blog, a girl, a dog. Along with some other things that I do it is no wonder I don't split myself in two. Like I was saying, I didn't think I can do it all; I would of never imagined; with all the stress, deadlines, currentness, contacts, everyday hustle, keeping in contact with family and friends it's no wonder some of us have not imploded. However, what I've learned is that the more you give, the more you can do. And I am sure there are more of you out there who are busier or have more responsibilities than me, but you have to understand that this is all new to me being a single guy for most of my life.
So this is my little family now. Affectionately, I call us F-Unit, for family unit. But, wait there's more...
The above picture of my girl is outdated. This is how she looks after being with me for a while....j/k. We've been blessed with a baby girl on the way. Her name will be Eliana. The name in Hebrew means "God answers." We didn't pick it for that reason, but it just so happens to mean that. Anyway, I'll put up a website soon w/ pics and diary entries we've kept off-line.
We are super-ecstatic, super-hyped, super-gassed, super-duper-elated, super-happy, supper-souped-up, super-duper-excited...we're SUPER! We are adding one more Latino to the population - a little LatinoPundette (hey, that gotta ring to it).
This puts everything into perspective; blogging, writing, life. It's not about me anymore; it's that little package on the way and the beautiful women who is wife to be Mrs. Pagan. And that is way cool. How better, how more fulfilling it is to give myself to these two jewels (three - the dog), and make them happy.
I write with a new pen these days; walk with new shoes; see with new eyes. This is my life, up and personal. And I am thankful, to love; to share; to live.
Love you all,
Louis Pagan
