Yep, deep underwater...deep in some caverns....where the Mayans dwell afterwards.
When I was young I used to go to my Uncle's house in Far Rockaway, Queens for weeks at a time. He had an indirect positive influence on me - his books! They were everywhere: on the floors, on shelves, book cases, in boxes, in closets. My fondest memory is of these two towering book shelves on each side of the living room entrance he had filled with books. I would stare at them sometimes in awe thinking that there were secrets in them.
In a time when the environment is a hot topic books these days may be getting a bad wrap. We know they are the product of processed timber and thus must take some toll on our forests, but if you think about all sides of the environment you would line your walls with them!

An amazing Superbowl game; an amazing Super Tuesday; 2008 is off to a great start. Remind me next election year to take off the day after the Superbowl and Super Tuesday and the next day after - I feel like I just stepped off a red-eye flight.
Did you get out and vote? I did, but was disappointed when my name was not on the roster sheet of registered voters. The district workers stated that that has happened a lot through the day (my immediate suspicions arose, but later subsided). So, with paper ballot in hand I filled in the little circles, sealed the envelope and dropped it off to be signed by the worker. Funny thing, that the same had happened to my fiancé, in her district. Conspiracy? Nah...probably an address screw up.
Gong to work today: Am I surprised? Is it no wonder, that the same people who expressed magnificent exuberance about the Superbowl game look at me cock-eyed when I boast of how great Super Tuesday's election night was? It's a shame most are more concerned with a game rather, than with their lives or country. No, no surprises here, but it is fun: "Man, did you see that election last night?" LOL

I was flipping through some books on the Puerto Rican movement in New York city from back in the day. It's amazing how journalist and authors can capture our passions and struggles within the contents of a book, making our lives searchable within the context of a web page.
That had me thinking about the blogging movement: one day, in addition to the volumes of books already written, coverage by journalists, interviews on news and talk shows, they will teach the blogosphere in the history classes.

Random Thoughts are more or less observations rather than actual news of events. But don't be fooled, they can point to a trend or provide other insightful thoughts not inherent to a regular post.

I find that the Latino Blogosphere, is more representative than the current state of the news, which is of no surprise. After all, Blogs have grown from the public's dissatisfaction of the media following 9-11. It takes no revelation of thought to make the leap from shanty news coverage concerning the events that led up to 9-11 through to our present state of terrorist war: The American people woke up and realized that they have missed something.
Now Latinos, who have historically been misrepresented in the media have taken up the mightiest weapon known to man (the pen), in order to correct what they see as wrong to make right. There is passion, because for most it is not a job; a deep urge to voice our opinions, because we are sick of other talking heads talking out of the sides of their mouths.
Not only do I believe that the Latino Blogosphere is more interesting than regular news for the reasons stated above, but I find it so in practice. Many times I find more interesting stories via my RSS feeder from my fellow bloggers. And that says a lot.
These are my random thoughts for today.
